2020 has been a unique year and because of the support you’ve shown us, we’ve been fortunate to grow our team to include talent from various parts of the country — from New Jersey and Pennsylvania to Arizona and Montana. Business is evolving and changing, but the constant that remains is our dedication and appreciation for you. You may not have met everyone on the team yet, so take a scroll and see who we are, what we do, and which local business we chose to pass along our gratitude.
Come meet us and see who selected your gifts and why…
Lisa
Creative Director
Hello! I think most of you know me. I lead creative at MCG Strategic, and I love our team of super-talented people. I’m so proud of the work we’ve accomplished together. It’s so exciting to see our clients experience success and to be a part of it – that’s what charges me up.
When I’m not focusing on our client’s work or developing innovative ideas, I’m spending time with my family and cooking for them almost every night. I love to try new culinary experiments, but not baking – that is too precise. Cooking is an art form and I’ve always been an artist. Painting is a love of mine that I’m always trying to find time for.
I have a degree in Scientific/Pre-Medical Illustration (I wanted to be a doctor) and my equal parts of left and right brain enjoy the creative/science balance. If you need it, I can draw hyper-realistic renderings of bugs or brains. However, I really enjoy creating large-scale mixed media abstract paintings. Several adorn the walls of my home.
One of my favorite life moments was placing 1st for forms in Tang Soo Do and American Freestyle Hapkido at a North American Federation of Martial Arts (NAFMA) Competition a few years ago. Yes, I am 5 feet tall, but have a purple belt and have officially sparred my son... and won – how many moms can say that? OSU!
Most days, I dream of paddle boarding with the sea turtles in Maho Bay on St. John. I’ll be back there someday!
About Grazing Goat - Tabernacle, NJ
"Having a child with ADHD, I originally sought out goat’s milk as an alternative to cow’s milk for his sensitive digestive tracts. The improvements were drastic, so you can imagine how happy that made my mother’s heart! That’s when we began our journey to moving onto our own goat farm. During my research on goat’s milk, I discovered how exceptionally healthy it also is for our skin. Out of curiosity, I began making our own. I was equally thrilled when it made our entire family’s skin the best it ever looked. I then began giving away goat milk soap with our extra milk as gifts, and person after person kept coming back to me raving about how it had improved their skin. After trying all the “high-end products”, I think some of them were shocked to see goat milk soap do the trick! That’s when I knew I wanted to share our farm crafted soaps with more people. Goat’s milk has changed our family’s lives for the better. I hope you find this same enjoyment."
Why Lisa Chose to Support Grazing Goat
As a former single mom (with only 1 boy!) who navigated ADHD symptoms with my child, I have an appreciation for all things natural as well as the entrepreneurial spirit and resilience that this mother shows. What she has built is impressive (and smells great!). I wanted to give back to someone in my community who was doing business for all the right reasons. Plus, little goats are cute.
Joe
Technical Director
Yo! I’m Joe and I (pretend to) run this show... with my partner, Lisa. I got my start back in the 90’s where you would have known me (and some of you did) as "that guy from that company that made that thing that makes that weird noise in that dark scary room that I don’t want to go in to". A lot has changed since then - for both myself and MCG. Where I was once just a one man nerd show, I now work with an amazing team of human beings that invent solutions for our clients that I could never have dreamed of “back in the day”. I am very proud of the work we do together. One of my favorite things in my work life is helping people do good things, and I’ve been fortunate to do that with so many great clients over the years.
Technology of a different kind plays a big part in my personal life. My passion is woodworking - specifically luthiery. I design and build electric guitars in my home shop, using a combination of hand work, 3D modeling, and CNC machining. There is great satisfaction in making music with an instrument you have created. I also love wood turning on the lathe, where I can get lost for hours, and get buried in a pile of sawdust in the process. When I am not rockin’ the pandemic, I play ice hockey with a bunch of old dudes that make me laugh a lot.
At home (well, upstairs) I have two incredible kids on the verge of college. They inspire me everyday. I love thinking about the things they’ll do in their lives. I know I’ve seen a lot, and I can only imagine what they will see.
It’s been an honor working with you. Happy Holidays and Happy New Year!
About Roast Coffee Company - Medford, NJ
Roast is a small, family owned roastery and cafe in Medford, NJ focused on sourcing and sharing the best coffee in the world. They roast on-site daily and share their beans at peak freshness.
Why Joe Chose to Support Roast Coffee Company
I love good coffee, and I love the atmosphere of a small neighborhood café where the baristas know your name and know your favorite blend. Roast is that place. Small businesses have had a rough go this year, and I wanted to do my part to support my community and a piece of the small economy that we are all so fortunate to have, and sometimes take for granted. Pay it forward.
Maria
Senior Art Director
Hi! It’s me, Maria, art director at MCG. I am an artist, creator, thinker, formulator, performer, entrepreneur and other labels I can’t think of at the moment. Here’s the part where I try to make myself sound cool (or uncool)…I’ll give it a go with a few things about me.
Originally from Greece, my family and I landed in the beautiful suburbs of Southern New Jersey. Yes, I’ve seen My Big Fat Greek Wedding... no, my parents don’t own a diner. Love, love, loved my art school experience. I studied in Philadelphia at Moore College of Art & Design for a bit, then went on to Tyler School of Art for my BFA in Design. Go Eagles!
My adventurous side goes rock climbing (trad style) at sites in upstate NY, Virginia, and Maryland. Being on stage is one of the highlights in my life. I have performed in seven operas with the Philadelphia Opera Company and made the casting list at the Metropolitan Opera in New York. A personal achievement that I am proud of are my grooming and fragrance product lines that have been noted by top magazines, Hollywood stylists, and placed in the Grammy Awards gift bag. These days, I keep low-key and enjoy hiking the trails in my neighborhood park, going to the beach, and hand feeding the wildlife in my yard, namely squirrels and chipmunks…the opossums and raccoons I enjoy at a distance.
About Occasionette - Collingswood, NJ
Occasionette is a curated gift shop, opening the doors at its first shop in 2013 on South Philly’s East Passyunk Avenue. The shop has grown substantially over the years and now boasts one of the city’s largest selections of independent cards and gifts. In the summer of 2017, the flagship location (twice as big as the first!) opened in the heart of nearby Collingswood, NJ.
Why Maria Chose to Support Occasionette
The Occasionette is my local gift shop. It's a woman-owned business with fun, funky, and cool gifts. They have this soap brand that caught my eye and thought would make a perfect gift.
Matt
Lead Developer
Hey there, I'm Matt. I handle the backend development and code deployments at MCG. In short, I write all the code that you don't see. I joined the team back in 2018 after graduating from the University of Delaware with a degree in applied mathematics.
I spend a lot of my time writing code, and whenever my code editor is open, I can guarantee Spotify is also open. I listen to just about every genre from Irish folk to death metal and everything in between.
Outside of work I spend a ton of time deepening my knowledge of programming language theory, compiler design, and systems programming. I also enjoy working on open source projects that make my life easier.
When I'm not writing code, I like to stay active. I can usually be found on a local hiking trail or at the climbing gym (bouldering and sport). I'm currently projecting v5/6 boulders and looking forward to competitions opening back up.
About Mill Creek Apiary - Medford, NJ
Mill Creek Apiary are producers of 100% pure raw honey and beeswax products. Honey, the golden nectar of the gods, is the most perfect food on earth. Their hives are located on local farms that grow produce using organic methods.
Why Matt Chose Mill Creek Apiary
Every year, Marlton has a Fall Festival. Local businesses swarm Main Street to set up booths and sell their products. The last time I got to go to the Fall Fest, Mill Creek Apiary had a booth. I got a bottle of honey, and simply put, it was absolutely delicious.
Justin
Front-end Developer
Hi, that's me in the photo over there. I'm Justin, I like long walks on the beach, holding hands, the color yellow... uhh, wrong profile, sorry.
I'm the front-end developer here at MCG and have been now for the past 6 years. I spend most of my time at work writing HTML, CSS, JavaScript and PHP to build websites for our clients. If MCG did your website, I probably built a large part of it! Pretty impressive, yeah? I work closely with our creative team to turn their designs into code, taking what they have created and making it into something usable on the web. That's always been my favorite part of working at MCG, being able to create pretty much anything from nothing at all.
When I’m not writing code you can find me playing drums, making a fresh cup of coffee (black please), sorting out my Magic the Gathering cards, or enjoying that new Radiohead record. If it's the weekend, please don't bother me as I'm sleeping in late and playing video games all day. I currently live in Allentown, PA with my girlfriend and our two cat-children, Paddington and Cricket.
About Marie's Soap - Bethlehem, PA
"We are committed to producing products that are good for you and that we take great pride in. Our personally prepared recipes reflect that. We use the finest food grade oils, dried herbs and essential oil blends that give each batch its own originality. Our creativity and constant research will allow us to bring you new products from time to time. We hope you love, and benefit from our products as much as we do!"
Why Justin Chose to Support Marie's Soap
I chose a product by Marie's Soap because as a whole they reflect all the positive attributes in a local business that I value. They represent four generations of a women owned business, only use all natural ingredients with no chemicals or fillers, they make everything to order in small batches by hand, and most importantly they never ever test on animals.
Lauren
Software Developer
It’s dark – the kind of dark that you only imagine existed – the dark from when early humans inhabited the earth and the only light after dusk came from slowly burning fires. Your nose is assaulted with the strong smell of coffee, and a low rumble of music streams into your ears. You follow these sensations a short way away to find a figure huddled in front of three giant, blindingly bright computer monitors. Locked in concentration, the figure does not seem to notice your entrance as they furiously click-clack away on their keyboard.
There is something familiar about this scene. Suddenly, it dawns on you -- it’s a programmer in their natural habitat!
Hi! I’m Lauren, I’m a software developer here at MCG. My chief responsibility is to architect and code the frontend functionality of your web and desktop apps, while occasionally lending support to other parts of development. I previously worked as a project manager in the public policy and nonprofit healthcare space, but made the jump to follow my passion, programming, about 2 years ago. I’m so glad to have landed here at MCG!
In my spare time I enjoy live music (can’t wait for concerts again!), exploring my city (the Philadelphia food scene is amazing), video games (currently addicted to Skyrim), photography (I’ve just started experimenting with night photography) and travelling (my favorite destination thus far is Japan – next on the list is Greece).
And all kidding aside – sometimes I code with the lights on.
About Shane Confectionery - Philadelphia, PA
Shane Confectionery has survived for a century and a half, and has seen the modern world come into its fruition. The future is ours to unfold. Thus, we make a solemn promise to uphold and continue the values, which have sustained and made this space great throughout its long passage of years.
Why Lauren Chose to Support Shane Confectionery
Philadelphia is a great city - the food, music, art, history, and people. I wanted to give everyone a little taste of the city I love living in, shaped like one of our most well known attractions. Shane Confectionary and its sister ice cream shop, Franklin Fountain, are historic neighborhood staples that I’ve visited countless times.
Steph
Social Media Associate
Hey! Stephanie is the name, but my friends call me Steph... or sometimes Crazy, but hey, aren't we all a little bit? Anyway, I am the Social Media Associate at MCG and have been here for a little over a year, and I love it! I graduated from Holy Family University in Philadelphia, PA, with a bachelor's degree in Communications.
When I am not creating captions, strategizing, and staying up to date on social media trends, I love watching crime documentaries/tv shows and scary movies, rescuing dogs, and eating sushi. If there were a competition for who can sleep in the longest on the weekends, I would take first place for sure. I also love going on long walks in my neighborhood with my human-like dog Samson. He is a Pit Bull and Cane-Corso mix (big dog, I know).
I volunteer for a non-profit organization called Animal Aid USA in New Jersey. This organization is 100% volunteer, and every 28 days they travel 1,600 miles from New Jersey to Georgia and back to rescue and relocate animals. I have traveled with the team on numerous trips and cannot wait to go back! It was a life-changing and eye-opening experience, and I am forever grateful to be a part of such a fantastic organization.
About Rescue Candle - Flemington, NJ
Rescue Candle is a family operated candle company dedicated to providing high-quality products that support animal rescue organizations. All of our candles are hand-poured daily using domestically grown 100% soy wax. We scent our candles with the finest blends of high-quality fragrance and essential oils. Our all cotton, metal-free wicks are primed and assembled by hand to give you a long lasting, clean burn. 25% of our net proceeds are donated to animal rescue organizations. Why Steph Chose to Support Rescue Candle
As someone who volunteers for an organization that rescues dogs and strives for a difference, I chose rescue candles as my small business because I love what their company stands for, their products, and want to give back. 25% of their proceeds are donated to animal rescue organizations.
Kelly
Project Manager
Greetings! I'm Kelly, your Project Manager at MCG Strategic. People describe me as authentic, down to earth, and reliable. My core value is – do what you said you were going to do. Life is much easier that way!
When I was a kid, my best friend and I played Barbies. I was more focused on organizing the Barbies and their chaotic villages then actually playing with them. When I grew up, I realized there was a need for this type of skill in life. Believe it or not, I started my career in a hospital Emergency Room helping to save lives as a Medical Lab Technician. I still have a sense of urgency as a Project Manager. I have multiple educational experiences and degrees in medical technology, finance, information technology, and an MBA in Marketing. I have spent the last 10+ years working in marketing, communications, and project management leading high-impact programs for fortune 500 and emerging B2B and B2C companies. I have domain expertise in healthcare, automotive, non-profit organizations, and the pharmaceutical industries.
Project management runs in my blood, so your projects will always reach the finish line on time and within your budget. Even though I get a big thrill out of order, budgets, timelines, gantt charts, the latest project management software and getting projects done, outside of work I like the simple things in life – surfing, riding motorcycles, my two cats, family, horseback riding, playing the guitar, listening to music, classic cars/hotrods, auto-racing, reading, creative writing, gardening, crocheting, cooking organically and volunteering and mentoring youths. I am a vegetarian. Animal rights are a big part of who I am and how I see life.
Enjoy your family and friends. Have a great Holiday Season and New Year!

Katelyn
UX/UI Designer
Hello! I’m Katelyn Bryner - a designer-developer hybrid focused on UI/UX design. I’m currently the UI/UX designer at MCG Strategic working with an amazing team! Design and development have been passions of mine since I was first introduced to HTML/CSS by my dad at the age of 12. I started exploring web development and design and was immediately hooked. My love for learning grew as I pushed myself through an early college program in high school to finish my bachelors degree in Web Development and Digital Design a year after graduation.
During my spare time, you’ll find me oil painting, cooking or spending time with loved ones. I’m happily living with my boyfriend in a small Montana town, enjoy good eatin’ and an iced mocha on hand.
I do my best work when I’m exploring new and disparate ideas, designing across disciplines, and furthering my creative knowledge. Entrepreneurial in spirit and collaborative by nature I have an equally creative and analytical mind and a passion for tackling complex challenges that lead to business success. What I do isn’t a job to me, per se. Rather, it’s a fundamental part of who I am and how I live my life. My journey is to explore and enjoy life in many facets.
I will forever be a student of life. Design thinking is in my DNA.
About The Huckleberry People - Missoula, MT
The Huckleberry People Family Business was created in 1982 with one goal in mind: hand-make sweets using Mother Nature's most distinctive and delectable wild berry: The Wild Huckleberry. The Wild Huckleberries' crop depends only on Mother Nature's will as the unique berry has been resisting any attempts to be cultivated or grown commercially. The Wild Huckleberry grows wild in the Rocky Mountains and its taste is unique as nothing you have experienced before. Using time honored family recipes for more than 34 years The Huckleberry People is bringing you this unique nature's delicacy for the whole family to enjoy.
Why Katelyn Chose to Support The Huckleberry People
Huckleberry food is a staple of Montana and the Rocky Mountains. Sweet and tart come together with each taste. The huckleberry cannot be grown commercially, so it must be hand-picked from the fields and meadows that border the mountain ranges. As a newcomer to the northwest region of the US, I’ve accepted the huckleberry as a new favorite! I invite you to taste a bit of Montana with these delicious wild huckleberry flavored caramels.
We hope your special curated gifts bring you a little comfort & joy!
